Narrative:

On departure from msp, climbing through 12000 ft MSL, the captain, flight engineer and myself were advised by the lead flight attendant that the safety strap for the L2 exit door was hanging out of the aircraft and was rattling on the door. We discussed the possibility of FOD and I advised the captain that we should return to msp. We contacted dispatch and as we were discussing the situation with them, the flight attendant advised again that the rattling sound had stopped. The captain observed that the engines were operating normally and concluded that the buckle had separated from the strap, and elected to continue the flight to las. Upon landing, the engine was inspected. No damage noted.
