Narrative:

Mco departure control asked us below 10000 ft MSL if we were maintaining 250 KIAS, which we responded, 'yes, we were at 250 KIAS below 10000 ft MSL.' out of 10000 ft MSL we were accelerating per usual to our climb speed above 10000 ft MSL. She was upset that we had accelerated above 250 KIAS even though we were above 10000 ft MSL. No conflict. Slowed back to 250 KIAS.

Title: AN MD80 CREW IN CLB BELOW 10000 FT WERE ASKED BY THE CTLR IF THEY WERE AT 250 KIAS. AFTER 10000 FT THE CREW INCREASED SPD BUT LEARNED THAT THE CTLR WANTED THEM TO REMAIN AT 250 KIAS.

SLOWED BACK TO 250 KIAS.
