Narrative:
During boarding, an FAA safety inspector came aboard and informed us that he would be jump seating. The proper credentials were exchanged. It was evident that the inspector had an attitude (as was shown by his interaction with the flight attendants and ourselves). All checklists were accomplished, taxi-out began. During taxi-out the first officer made a non aviation statement. I did not respond. Also during approach, the first officer made a statement such as 'it is a beautiful day to fly' which I acknowledged. The entire flight was per procedure and uneventful except for the above. The FAA inspector did not talk with the crew for the entire flight nor did he acknowledge the omc safety briefing. He did debrief us on the sterile cockpit procedures and was very aggressive when he did so. I would have said something initially during the taxi-out but I did not feel that it was appropriate as we got busy with other cockpit duties. Then at altitude, I totally forgot about it.

Title: ACR MLG FLC INTIMIDATED BY FAA ACR INSPECTOR DEMEANOR AND GENERAL ATTITUDE.
Narrative: DURING BOARDING, AN FAA SAFETY INSPECTOR CAME ABOARD AND INFORMED US THAT HE WOULD BE JUMP SEATING. THE PROPER CREDENTIALS WERE EXCHANGED. IT WAS EVIDENT THAT THE INSPECTOR HAD AN ATTITUDE (AS WAS SHOWN BY HIS INTERACTION WITH THE FLT ATTENDANTS AND OURSELVES). ALL CHKLISTS WERE ACCOMPLISHED, TAXI-OUT BEGAN. DURING TAXI-OUT THE FO MADE A NON AVIATION STATEMENT. I DID NOT RESPOND. ALSO DURING APCH, THE FO MADE A STATEMENT SUCH AS 'IT IS A BEAUTIFUL DAY TO FLY' WHICH I ACKNOWLEDGED. THE ENTIRE FLT WAS PER PROC AND UNEVENTFUL EXCEPT FOR THE ABOVE. THE FAA INSPECTOR DID NOT TALK WITH THE CREW FOR THE ENTIRE FLT NOR DID HE ACKNOWLEDGE THE OMC SAFETY BRIEFING. HE DID DEBRIEF US ON THE STERILE COCKPIT PROCS AND WAS VERY AGGRESSIVE WHEN HE DID SO. I WOULD HAVE SAID SOMETHING INITIALLY DURING THE TAXI-OUT BUT I DID NOT FEEL THAT IT WAS APPROPRIATE AS WE GOT BUSY WITH OTHER COCKPIT DUTIES. THEN AT ALT, I TOTALLY FORGOT ABOUT IT.
