Narrative:

On an arrival route to teb, our clearance was airway to hugenot direct teb. No additional or amended clrncs were given, so after hug, I proceeded direct to teb. The controller asked if I was going to teb, and when advised I was, he said no one goes that way and gave me a heading. This is a preferred routing into teb and the transition is ambiguous. If this is the expected procedure, then it should be made a 'STAR' with a depart 'hugenot' on a specified heading.
