Narrative:
A woman came up to the first class lavatory and was in there for 20 mins. Captain came out to use the restroom. I knocked on door to see if she was ok, she replied but couldn't understand her. She came out and went straight back to aft l-hand lavatory. The #4 flight attendant informed me she was in there. Captain said prepare for landing. #4 and #2 flight attendants knocked on the door, but she wouldn't come out. #2 flight attendant unlocked door, a friend of woman was back there. The friend went to open the door. Lady immediately slammed door. I called the captain that he needed to circle airport until the lady would come out. We finally got her out, and flight was met by tus police. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated that the passenger had been sitting in coach and went up to use the first class lavatory. When the captain came out to use the lavatory, the woman had been in there for at least 20 mins, and finally she left the lavatory. The captain said he could smell burning paraffin. After circling tucson to try and get her out of the back lavatory, the crew saw a hypodermic needle sticking out of her bag, and bloody tissues all over the lavatory. When the police met the aircraft, they pulled up her arm sleeves and saw bloody track marks. The friend traveling with her disappeared before the police could interview her. The reporter also said that she warned the cabin cleaners of the possibility of contaminated blood in the lavatories.
