Narrative:
Had been at level cruise flight for 45 mins. Cabin began to depressurize at a rate of 1500 FPM. Cabin altitude warning horn sounded almost immediately. Donned oxygen mask, established communication with other crew members, pulled out quick response card emergency card, began immediate descent to lower altitude. Entered holding pattern to sort out checklist, advise dispatch. All agreed to divert to slc. Mechanics could not pressurize the aircraft for over 3 hours. Remainder of trip canceled.
