Narrative:
Cleared on V421 from fmn to gup. Student tuned in 182 degree radial instead of 192 degree radial of fmn VOR. I didn't check. ATC asked if we were diverting around WX, then gave vector to intercept airway. I should have paid more attention to our course from the VOR.

Title: AN INST INSTRUCTOR PLT AND STUDENT PLT FLEW THE WRONG RADIAL NEAR FMN.
Narrative: CLRED ON V421 FROM FMN TO GUP. STUDENT TUNED IN 182 DEG RADIAL INSTEAD OF 192 DEG RADIAL OF FMN VOR. I DIDN'T CHK. ATC ASKED IF WE WERE DIVERTING AROUND WX, THEN GAVE VECTOR TO INTERCEPT AIRWAY. I SHOULD HAVE PAID MORE ATTN TO OUR COURSE FROM THE VOR.
