Narrative:
Filed flight plan was gtr-igb-J52-sqs and FSS cleared us on ground as filed. We departed runway 18 at gtr and turned right to join J52 wbound. The ZME controller was upset that we did not turn left and go direct to igb which is 4 NM east of gtr and then join J52.
