Narrative:
Departure procedure too complicated with turns departing runway 23 at ege. Initial turn left with immediate turn right, so not to overfly gypsen, co, is very confusing. Need radar coverage to help pilots with departure procedures or printed graphics in government chart books shown in departure procedures. Our situation occurred when we departed ege on runway 23 and made our original left turn. Upon crossing a fix for our next turn, we turned left again for terrain clearance and were notified by ZDV upon check-in at 10000 ft that we should have turned right. Conditions were clear with excellent visibility. No other aircraft involved. Summary: departure procedure too complicated without departure plate, need in government chart book.
