Narrative:
When we contacted the tower they asked us to maintain 170 KTS to cri VOR. We then began to increase to 170 KTS when we encountered the wake from the B747. After flying out of the wake we never did get back up to 170 KTS. The tower asked our speed and he was 'displeased' with our failure to advise him in a timely manner that we were not at 170 KTS.
