Narrative:

Was doing a practice approach to apa, ILS runway 35R, had been vectored to localizer by denver approach, was handed off to centennial tower, just about 1 mi before IAF. Tower said to continue on ILS, report at power lines (approximately 3 mi from threshold runway 35R), and that we were following a twin. I heard a bonanza call tower for instructions, and reported his location as south of airport over I25. Tower told him to continue south until given further instructions. About 30 seconds later instructor took controls and did a steep climbing left turn, while saying we had traffic. When we got straightened back out we saw it was the bonanza. I believe his call sign was xyz. The bonanza contacted tower and asked if they knew where all the traffic was in the pattern, because he about ended up wearing a C210. (Guess the C172 looks bigger up that close.) the tower told him he was cleared for runway 28. We both landed without further incident, I think the bonanza was heading about 160-150 degrees, and the controller was busy with other traffic.

Title: A CESSNA 172 INSTRUCTOR AND STUDENT PLT HAD A NEAR MISS WITH BONANZA ON APCH TO APA.

Narrative: WAS DOING A PRACTICE APCH TO APA, ILS RWY 35R, HAD BEEN VECTORED TO LOC BY DENVER APCH, WAS HANDED OFF TO CENTENNIAL TWR, JUST ABOUT 1 MI BEFORE IAF. TWR SAID TO CONTINUE ON ILS, RPT AT PWR LINES (APPROX 3 MI FROM THRESHOLD RWY 35R), AND THAT WE WERE FOLLOWING A TWIN. I HEARD A BONANZA CALL TWR FOR INSTRUCTIONS, AND RPTED HIS LOCATION AS S OF ARPT OVER I25. TWR TOLD HIM TO CONTINUE S UNTIL GIVEN FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS. ABOUT 30 SECONDS LATER INSTRUCTOR TOOK CTLS AND DID A STEEP CLBING L TURN, WHILE SAYING WE HAD TFC. WHEN WE GOT STRAIGHTENED BACK OUT WE SAW IT WAS THE BONANZA. I BELIEVE HIS CALL SIGN WAS XYZ. THE BONANZA CONTACTED TWR AND ASKED IF THEY KNEW WHERE ALL THE TFC WAS IN THE PATTERN, BECAUSE HE ABOUT ENDED UP WEARING A C210. (GUESS THE C172 LOOKS BIGGER UP THAT CLOSE.) THE TWR TOLD HIM HE WAS CLRED FOR RWY 28. WE BOTH LANDED WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT, I THINK THE BONANZA WAS HEADING ABOUT 160-150 DEGS, AND THE CTLR WAS BUSY WITH OTHER TFC.
