Narrative:
On our previous flight the GPS failed. On the completion of that flight I wrote it up. Just prior to our flight the director of maintenance came to me with the write-up explaining what he did to correct it. Trusting his skills as a mechanic and director of maintenance I did not feel it was necessary to doubt him and to double check his work. This proved to be a mistake in that it was incorrectly documented and I fear that it could have been something more serious. Everyone makes mistakes no matter how good they are. The error was discovered when I got one of the other mechanics in the company to follow up on it. I flew an aircraft that was illegal because of improper documentation. I flew an illegal aircraft because I failed to double check to ensure the documentation was correct. Don't trust anyone.
