Narrative:
At approximately XA45 hours on jul/xa/99, dfw to san, we heard a loud bang. It sounded as if it came from the cargo area. The plane jerked, the lights flickered. We lost all galley power. The captain said we had lost 2 generators and would have an emergency landing. We landed without injury to anyone at approximately XB00 in abq and deplaned at approximately XB02 hours. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter stated that the captain told them that they had 7 min to prepare the cabin and not to use the word 'emergency' to describe the situation, but to call it 'serious.' the did a 'quick and dirty' planned emergency, just having time to do the basic commands, such as telling women to take off their shoes, etc, and had the passenger pick up food trays and bring them to the galley as the whole airplane had just been served their trays. The landed uneventfully, but the plane was taken OTS. The airline ferried another plane in and most of the passenger continued on with them to san diego. Several people were 'just plain crazy,' as all they complained about was not getting meal service. Several others were traumatized by the ordeal, but remained grateful for the calm and professional manner in which the whole crew handled the situation.

Narrative: AT APPROX XA45 HRS ON JUL/XA/99, DFW TO SAN, WE HEARD A LOUD BANG. IT SOUNDED AS IF IT CAME FROM THE CARGO AREA. THE PLANE JERKED, THE LIGHTS FLICKERED. WE LOST ALL GALLEY PWR. THE CAPT SAID WE HAD LOST 2 GENERATORS AND WOULD HAVE AN EMER LNDG. WE LANDED WITHOUT INJURY TO ANYONE AT APPROX XB00 IN ABQ AND DEPLANED AT APPROX XB02 HRS. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: RPTR STATED THAT THE CAPT TOLD THEM THAT THEY HAD 7 MIN TO PREPARE THE CABIN AND NOT TO USE THE WORD 'EMER' TO DESCRIBE THE SIT, BUT TO CALL IT 'SERIOUS.' THE DID A 'QUICK AND DIRTY' PLANNED EMER, JUST HAVING TIME TO DO THE BASIC COMMANDS, SUCH AS TELLING WOMEN TO TAKE OFF THEIR SHOES, ETC, AND HAD THE PAX PICK UP FOOD TRAYS AND BRING THEM TO THE GALLEY AS THE WHOLE AIRPLANE HAD JUST BEEN SERVED THEIR TRAYS. THE LANDED UNEVENTFULLY, BUT THE PLANE WAS TAKEN OTS. THE AIRLINE FERRIED ANOTHER PLANE IN AND MOST OF THE PAX CONTINUED ON WITH THEM TO SAN DIEGO. SEVERAL PEOPLE WERE 'JUST PLAIN CRAZY,' AS ALL THEY COMPLAINED ABOUT WAS NOT GETTING MEAL SVC. SEVERAL OTHERS WERE TRAUMATIZED BY THE ORDEAL, BUT REMAINED GRATEFUL FOR THE CALM AND PROFESSIONAL MANNER IN WHICH THE WHOLE CREW HANDLED THE SIT.
