Narrative:
We taxied from spot X to runway 17R via standard taxi. We switched over to tower frequency and at taxiway left tower cleared us to cross runway 17R and to hold short of runway 17C. As we approached runway 17R he cleared an MD80 (flight # unknown) for takeoff on runway 17R. We immediately stopped and our nosewheel was just across the hold short line. The MD80 continued. We questioned the tower about the situation and he said to hold short and thanks for the help.
