Narrative:
Approaching ord on a cavu day, was briefing for an autoland approach for runway 14L. I had a new hire that was having a little problem getting things set up on the FMS and/or fmp for the approach. I had my approach plates set up with the ILS runway 14L CAT III and ILS runway 14R approach side-by-side. As the first officer briefed the approach, I accidentally looked at the runway 14L plate and so idented the wrong radios and concurred that the frequency was set correctly. We were given intercept heading and intercepted the runway 14L approach instead of the runway 14R. Approach gave us a turn to the right for the reintercept and we landed without incident or conflict. I have shot those approachs too many times to even believe that someone could make this mistake. Well we learn something new every day.

Narrative: APCHING ORD ON A CAVU DAY, WAS BRIEFING FOR AN AUTOLAND APCH FOR RWY 14L. I HAD A NEW HIRE THAT WAS HAVING A LITTLE PROB GETTING THINGS SET UP ON THE FMS AND/OR FMP FOR THE APCH. I HAD MY APCH PLATES SET UP WITH THE ILS RWY 14L CAT III AND ILS RWY 14R APCH SIDE-BY-SIDE. AS THE FO BRIEFED THE APCH, I ACCIDENTALLY LOOKED AT THE RWY 14L PLATE AND SO IDENTED THE WRONG RADIOS AND CONCURRED THAT THE FREQ WAS SET CORRECTLY. WE WERE GIVEN INTERCEPT HDG AND INTERCEPTED THE RWY 14L APCH INSTEAD OF THE RWY 14R. APCH GAVE US A TURN TO THE R FOR THE REINTERCEPT AND WE LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT OR CONFLICT. I HAVE SHOT THOSE APCHS TOO MANY TIMES TO EVEN BELIEVE THAT SOMEONE COULD MAKE THIS MISTAKE. WELL WE LEARN SOMETHING NEW EVERY DAY.
