Narrative:
Taxiing in to our ramp, we were holding short of runway 27 behind a company airbus. He was cleared to cross, and we taxied up to his position. As I started to move up, I saw a light aircraft left and low that at first I thought was a truck. When I saw it was an aircraft, I slammed on my brakes to avoid hitting him. He swerved around me, nearly running off the taxiway, and coming so close to me that I couldn't see his wing under my nose. When told of this, ground said that he had asked the twin if there was room to get behind me, and the twin told him that there was. I doubt that there was room behind us to get by, and I know that there was no room in front of us to get by. WX was not a factor. Talking to ATC by phone, they said that the miscom was probably that the twin thought he had room behind the airbus. Nobody told me to hold for an aircraft trying to get by. The twin operator should have known he did not have room to get by.

Title: CAPT OF A DC10 STOPPED ABRUPTLY WHEN OBSERVING A LIGHT TWIN SWERVING TO GO AROUND THE NOSE OF HIS ACFT WHILE TAXIING ON ACROSS TXWY.
Narrative: TAXIING IN TO OUR RAMP, WE WERE HOLDING SHORT OF RWY 27 BEHIND A COMPANY AIRBUS. HE WAS CLRED TO CROSS, AND WE TAXIED UP TO HIS POS. AS I STARTED TO MOVE UP, I SAW A LIGHT ACFT L AND LOW THAT AT FIRST I THOUGHT WAS A TRUCK. WHEN I SAW IT WAS AN ACFT, I SLAMMED ON MY BRAKES TO AVOID HITTING HIM. HE SWERVED AROUND ME, NEARLY RUNNING OFF THE TXWY, AND COMING SO CLOSE TO ME THAT I COULDN'T SEE HIS WING UNDER MY NOSE. WHEN TOLD OF THIS, GND SAID THAT HE HAD ASKED THE TWIN IF THERE WAS ROOM TO GET BEHIND ME, AND THE TWIN TOLD HIM THAT THERE WAS. NOBODY TOLD ME TO HOLD FOR AN ACFT TRYING TO GET BY. THE TWIN OPERATOR SHOULD HAVE KNOWN HE DID NOT HAVE ROOM TO GET BY.
