Narrative:
Assigned 270 KTS in climb, with statement that it wouldn't be reduced for very long, by ATC. Aircraft leveled at cruise altitude, FL220, and accelerated to mach .705, normal cruise. Copilot was flying and stated he had thought we were given normal speed. 270 KTS had not been entered on cruise page. This should have been done until normal speed reassigned.

Title: B757 CREW FAILS TO FLY AT ASSIGNED AIRSPD S OF VHP.
Narrative: ASSIGNED 270 KTS IN CLB, WITH STATEMENT THAT IT WOULDN'T BE REDUCED FOR VERY LONG, BY ATC. ACFT LEVELED AT CRUISE ALT, FL220, AND ACCELERATED TO MACH .705, NORMAL CRUISE. COPLT WAS FLYING AND STATED HE HAD THOUGHT WE WERE GIVEN NORMAL SPD. 270 KTS HAD NOT BEEN ENTERED ON CRUISE PAGE. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE UNTIL NORMAL SPD REASSIGNED.
