Narrative:
I had intended to close flight plan on short final, but as no one at the airport at night, I intended to close with FSS after a safe landing. I was distraction and forgot to close until reminded by phone by ATC later. I have never failed to close a flight plan before and will not forget in the future. A remote facility for clearance, etc, would help.
