Narrative:

While descending into pap, we received a TA warning at about 10000 ft. We leveled at 9000 ft and made visual contact with a jet departing pap runway 27. He called he had the TA warning and we reported we had the traffic in sight. The TA canceled as we leveled at 9000 ft. We passed by the traffic with more than 300 ft vertical separation and more than 3 mi horizontal separation. We were previously cleared on a visual approach to runway 27. I suspect the high descent rate combined with the high climb rate was a major factor.
