Narrative:

While on landing approach, the tower instructed us to plan to follow an aircraft on a 2 mi final to runway 29R. Subsequently, he instructed us to cross the centerline of runway 29R and we were cleared to land on runway 29L (since he had a learjet on a 3 mi final to runway 29R and we wouldn't be clear), then when we were approximately in the middle of our base to runway 29L near the centerline of runway 29R, he instructed us to make an immediate left turn to 'rejoin the downwind.' this action would have put us flying directly into the approaching learjet. We declined and instead turned right to clear both final approach courses. As we were in the right turn, the learjet passed slightly above and left of our path on his final to runway 29R. We did not comply with the tower's instruction due to obvious danger of collision with the learjet.

Title: A KING AIR PIC ELECTS TO TURN AWAY FROM ADVISORY TFC IN CONFLICT WITH ATC INSTRUCTIONS WHILE ON A BASE LEG FOR LNDG BJC, CO.

Narrative: WHILE ON LNDG APCH, THE TWR INSTRUCTED US TO PLAN TO FOLLOW AN ACFT ON A 2 MI FINAL TO RWY 29R. SUBSEQUENTLY, HE INSTRUCTED US TO CROSS THE CTRLINE OF RWY 29R AND WE WERE CLRED TO LAND ON RWY 29L (SINCE HE HAD A LEARJET ON A 3 MI FINAL TO RWY 29R AND WE WOULDN'T BE CLR), THEN WHEN WE WERE APPROX IN THE MIDDLE OF OUR BASE TO RWY 29L NEAR THE CTRLINE OF RWY 29R, HE INSTRUCTED US TO MAKE AN IMMEDIATE L TURN TO 'REJOIN THE DOWNWIND.' THIS ACTION WOULD HAVE PUT US FLYING DIRECTLY INTO THE APCHING LEARJET. WE DECLINED AND INSTEAD TURNED R TO CLR BOTH FINAL APCH COURSES. AS WE WERE IN THE R TURN, THE LEARJET PASSED SLIGHTLY ABOVE AND L OF OUR PATH ON HIS FINAL TO RWY 29R. WE DID NOT COMPLY WITH THE TWR'S INSTRUCTION DUE TO OBVIOUS DANGER OF COLLISION WITH THE LEARJET.
