Narrative:
I am a maintenance line supervisor and on sep/xa/99, I signed off a l-hand wing corrosion inspection card that was supposed to drop dead the day in question. This aircraft was scheduled to be down on the wkend before so the inspection could be accomplished. I saw the card was not signed off when I came on duty and during the process of putting the work package together to send to 'B' check, I closed it out. I found out later on sep/xc/99 in a meeting with my maintenance mgrs, quality check manager, quality assurance manager, quality assurance director and senior maintenance director that I may have signed off the inspection work card with the possibility of open write-ups concerning the corrosion inspection. I admitted signing the work card off, assuming it was already accomplished not knowing we had open write-ups.
