Narrative:
While on takeoff at bos runway 9, just after V1, we ingested seagulls into the #2 (right) engine. There was a bang and smell of smoke in the aircraft. We declared an emergency and returned to bos without incident. (Engine remained running and operated normally.)

Title: AN ACR FLC FLYING B737-200 AT BOS INGESTS SEAGULL INTO #2 ENG DURING TKOF ROLL.
Narrative: WHILE ON TKOF AT BOS RWY 9, JUST AFTER V1, WE INGESTED SEAGULLS INTO THE #2 (R) ENG. THERE WAS A BANG AND SMELL OF SMOKE IN THE ACFT. WE DECLARED AN EMER AND RETURNED TO BOS WITHOUT INCIDENT. (ENG REMAINED RUNNING AND OPERATED NORMALLY.)
