Narrative:
Started at gate xa due to inoperative APU. Pushed off gate without calling ground. Prior to entering taxiway a, had captain ask ground man if they needed to push us out onto taxiway a. When they said yes, I requested clearance from ground control. He said we were supposed to call before push. Re-reviewed company page for sfo. Notes are confusing and hard to read format. The need to call ground for push is normally in bold. Redesigning notes on 10-7Z page for sfo would be a big help in complying with all restrs.

Narrative: STARTED AT GATE XA DUE TO INOP APU. PUSHED OFF GATE WITHOUT CALLING GND. PRIOR TO ENTERING TXWY A, HAD CAPT ASK GND MAN IF THEY NEEDED TO PUSH US OUT ONTO TXWY A.
