Narrative:
After a visual approach to runway 5, landed and planned turnoff on taxiway right. Tower instructed us to turn on taxiway right, but not on taxiway G. Turned on what I thought was taxiway right (the taxiway sign seemed to indicate that. Did not see a sign for taxiway G.) but it turned out to be taxiway G. Tower was not happy about this and asked us to hold so she could get authorization to use it. Then she cleared us to the ramp. I believe this could have been avoided if the sign for taxiway G had been better placed (never did see it). Taxiway right sign is right next to taxiway G. Also, this is a brand new taxiway, I should have reviewed the airport diagram a little closer.
