Narrative:

I was the first officer on a DC8 cargo flying the approach and landing to brussels national. The approach and landing were both normal. After exiting the runway, ground instructed us with taxi instructions: outer 3, outer 4, inner 3, R3 to stand 108. I read back: outer 3, outer 4, taxiway M, R3 to stand 108. The captain and flight engineer agreed with my readback. We proceeded to taxi onto taxiway M which was closed to DC8 aircraft. We recognized our mistake the same time ground noticed our error. We stopped the aircraft. After receiving proper wing clearance, we proceeded to parking. Factors: 1) ground controller was extremely busy and had a heavy accent that was difficult to understand. 2) fatigue, we reported for duty at XA30 EST. Flew to egnx (7 hour 19 min block). Remained on the ground there for 3 hours 30 mins, then flew to brussels arriving at XX00 local -- 1 hour 23 min block, over 14 hours duty and 8 hours 42 min block.
