Narrative:
Cruise flight at FL350 over hvq swbound loud bang in cargo compartment. Followed by a second 5-10 min later. No alerts or any indications of fumes or source of noise. There was hazmat in a dedicated container so a jump seat passenger was brought forward. 100% oxygen was used and aircraft descended to obtain lower cabin altitude as a precaution. As there were no secondary indications of a problem, aircraft continued to destination at lower altitude, crew on oxygen. Nothing was found during cargo offload and detailed postflt aircraft inspection. Suspect heavy cargo shifted or fell in container. Lessons learned: glasses and oxygen masks are not a good combination for new users. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated the air carrier is in the process of replacing the goggles and oxygen mask with a full face mask unit which is quicker and user friendly to those that require glasses.

Title: AN MD11 FLC HAD DIFFICULTY DONNING THE OXYGEN MASK TO INSPECT A NOISE IN THE CARGO AREA HEAR HVQ.
Narrative: CRUISE FLT AT FL350 OVER HVQ SWBOUND LOUD BANG IN CARGO COMPARTMENT. FOLLOWED BY A SECOND 5-10 MIN LATER. NO ALERTS OR ANY INDICATIONS OF FUMES OR SOURCE OF NOISE.
