Narrative:

While flying the st clair 2 departure from dtw to pwm, encountered severe turbulence during climb out over pista intersection. Lost flight director, autoplt, thrust rating panel and autothrottles. Got clearance to 12000 ft and a turn to the west. Flew raw data to 12000 ft attempting numerous times to reacquire flight director. Once in smooth air, was able to get system components back. I did not declare an emergency nor did I suspect any structural damage to aircraft. Galley/cabin reported no injuries. I returned to dtw after informing ATC of PIREP and dispatch. Landed at dtw uneventfully. The turbulence encountered was not forecast nor was it associated with any convective activity in the area.
