Narrative:

After several yrs of being an inactive IFR pilot, I secured an IFR competency check. During my first IFR flight, I may have climbed into the ord TCA (class B) while awaiting my IFR clearance after a VFR takeoff. ATC made no contact with me, but after reviewing a VFR chart, I was left with reason for concern as my departure to the east, then heading north, put me in the largest TCA sector, close to 3CK airport. To prevent a future concern over this matter, I will keep a VFR sectional handy even when on an IFR flight plan.
