Narrative:

Upon taxi-in in cvg, the left wing of the aircraft struck a maintenance ladder. I was taxiing on centerline of a mandatory taxi line when the incident occurred. The ladder had been stored behind the double yellow line on the edge of the taxiway. Personnel must have been under the impression that this would provide adequate separation from taxiing aircraft. This was not and is not the case. Maintenance and ground personnel must remain vigilant as to where they store equipment.
