Narrative:
I was flying with a student pilot in the left traffic pattern for runway 26 at 900 ft. As our aircraft approached las posas road, camarillo tower instructed us to 'do a right 360 degree and re-enter traffic at the bean barns.' we assumed that tower meant to do a 180 degree and head for the re-entry point. We complied as such, flying to the bean barns and making a right turn of approximately 135 degrees onto the downwind. At this point I noticed an aircraft flash by above me at what I estimated to be 300 ft or less. I saw the aircraft turn and head on a parallel course about 1/4 to 1/2 mi ahead and to the right. My student did not see the other aircraft. At no time did tower call the traffic. It would appear that they directed us to turn in front of this traffic. I am very confident that a review of the tower tapes will show that tower was unaware of this developing situation or that it even happened.

Title: INSTRUCTOR PLT FAILS TO FLY CLRNC AS GIVEN BY TWR AND THEN COMPLAINS OF CLOSE ENCOUNTER WITH ANOTHER ACFT.
Narrative: I WAS FLYING WITH A STUDENT PLT IN THE L TFC PATTERN FOR RWY 26 AT 900 FT. AS OUR ACFT APCHED LAS POSAS ROAD, CAMARILLO TWR INSTRUCTED US TO 'DO A R 360 DEG AND RE-ENTER TFC AT THE BEAN BARNS.' WE ASSUMED THAT TWR MEANT TO DO A 180 DEG AND HEAD FOR THE RE-ENTRY POINT. WE COMPLIED AS SUCH, FLYING TO THE BEAN BARNS AND MAKING A R TURN OF APPROX 135 DEGS ONTO THE DOWNWIND. AT THIS POINT I NOTICED AN ACFT FLASH BY ABOVE ME AT WHAT I ESTIMATED TO BE 300 FT OR LESS. I SAW THE ACFT TURN AND HEAD ON A PARALLEL COURSE ABOUT 1/4 TO 1/2 MI AHEAD AND TO THE R. MY STUDENT DID NOT SEE THE OTHER ACFT. AT NO TIME DID TWR CALL THE TFC. IT WOULD APPEAR THAT THEY DIRECTED US TO TURN IN FRONT OF THIS TFC. I AM VERY CONFIDENT THAT A REVIEW OF THE TWR TAPES WILL SHOW THAT TWR WAS UNAWARE OF THIS DEVELOPING SIT OR THAT IT EVEN HAPPENED.
