Narrative:
While cleared for a visual approach into runway 16L at slc, approach control told us we had gone below class B then back into it. We were about 13 mi out, below the GS, but above the stair-steps on the runway 16L ILS commercial chart. Later, on the ground, it appears the class B airspace and the stair-steps on the approach lend themselves for this to happen. This should be corrected. Change class B or stair-steps letdowns.
