Narrative:
While climbing out of msp at FL200, the so said we had a low pressure light on the #1 engine hydraulic pump. I looked at the so's panel and noticed the 'a' system hydraulic quantity was at zero. We started the loss of 'a' system procedure and the #2 engine driven pump low pressure light illuminated. I decided to divert to dtw to burn down gas to get below landing weight. We finished the loss of 'a' system hydraulics and continued to dtw. We declared an emergency and coordinated landing on the longest runway in dtw. We lowered the flaps and gear with the alternate system and landed in dtw. I taxied clear of the runway and stopped and called maintenance to tow the aircraft to the gate.

Title: B727 CREW HAD A SYS HYD FAILURE.
Narrative: WHILE CLBING OUT OF MSP AT FL200, THE SO SAID WE HAD A LOW PRESSURE LIGHT ON THE #1 ENG HYD PUMP. I LOOKED AT THE SO'S PANEL AND NOTICED THE 'A' SYS HYD QUANTITY WAS AT ZERO. WE STARTED THE LOSS OF 'A' SYS PROC AND THE #2 ENG DRIVEN PUMP LOW PRESSURE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. I DECIDED TO DIVERT TO DTW TO BURN DOWN GAS TO GET BELOW LNDG WT. WE FINISHED THE LOSS OF 'A' SYS HYDS AND CONTINUED TO DTW. WE DECLARED AN EMER AND COORDINATED LNDG ON THE LONGEST RWY IN DTW. WE LOWERED THE FLAPS AND GEAR WITH THE ALTERNATE SYS AND LANDED IN DTW. I TAXIED CLR OF THE RWY AND STOPPED AND CALLED MAINT TO TOW THE ACFT TO THE GATE.
