Narrative:
Checking in with ZME after crossing mississippi river from ark into tennessee, heading 087 degrees at 9000 ft, controller stated my altitude at 9300 ft. Asked me what I indicated. I was indicating 9000 ft. He then stated altimeter was 30.11. My last controller had stated 30.00 for altimeter setting. I had been in heavy rain at departure, checked my alternate static system and I jumped 100 ft high. (Pressure change rapidly going east 30.28 at nashville). WX VFR over scattered cumulus. Checked aircraft log -- static check 2 months over static check time -- will be accomplished prior to next IFR flight. When picking up IFR (in air) approach controller always pegs my altitude right-on on climb.

Title: SMA PLT FLEW IFR WITH EXPIRED ACFT INST CHK.
Narrative: CHKING IN WITH ZME AFTER XING MISSISSIPPI RIVER FROM ARK INTO TENNESSEE, HDG 087 DEGS AT 9000 FT, CTLR STATED MY ALT AT 9300 FT. ASKED ME WHAT I INDICATED. I WAS INDICATING 9000 FT. HE THEN STATED ALTIMETER WAS 30.11. MY LAST CTLR HAD STATED 30.00 FOR ALTIMETER SETTING. I HAD BEEN IN HVY RAIN AT DEP, CHKED MY ALTERNATE STATIC SYS AND I JUMPED 100 FT HIGH. (PRESSURE CHANGE RAPIDLY GOING E 30.28 AT NASHVILLE). WX VFR OVER SCATTERED CUMULUS. CHKED ACFT LOG -- STATIC CHK 2 MONTHS OVER STATIC CHK TIME -- WILL BE ACCOMPLISHED PRIOR TO NEXT IFR FLT. WHEN PICKING UP IFR (IN AIR) APCH CTLR ALWAYS PEGS MY ALT RIGHT-ON ON CLB.
