Narrative:
We had been cleared to land following another aircraft (an aztec, aircraft Y). A third aircraft (a twin cessna 402, aircraft Z) had reported us and the aztec in sight and was cleared to land following us and the aztec. Shortly thereafter the tower had told him to turn left to follow us, and instead he said he could not and flew right between us and the aztec. We turned to the right to avoid him and were then told to follow him. I told the tower we were doing a 360 degree turn (for spacing) and then repeated cleared to land on runway 5. We completed our 360 degree turn and landed without further incident. Supplemental information from acn 454437: tower clears us to land, #2, behind aztec aircraft Y on final. Tower talks to aircraft Z. Pilot responds he sees us and aztec. At this time, I turn right to widen out for spacing behind aztec. Spacing good, so I turn to final. From right of my aircraft, captain notices aircraft Z right in front of us, cutting from right to left in our approach path. TCASII screams alert. I make hard turn to right to avoid aircraft Z. I proceed right and accomplish a 360 degree turn, then land at mkk without any further incident.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A DASH 8 CREW, ON FINAL FOR RWY 5 AT MKK, WERE CUT OFF BY A C402, CAUSING THEM TO RESPOND TO A TCASII RA.
Narrative: WE HAD BEEN CLRED TO LAND FOLLOWING ANOTHER ACFT (AN AZTEC, ACFT Y). A THIRD ACFT (A TWIN CESSNA 402, ACFT Z) HAD RPTED US AND THE AZTEC IN SIGHT AND WAS CLRED TO LAND FOLLOWING US AND THE AZTEC. SHORTLY THEREAFTER THE TWR HAD TOLD HIM TO TURN L TO FOLLOW US, AND INSTEAD HE SAID HE COULD NOT AND FLEW RIGHT BTWN US AND THE AZTEC. WE TURNED TO THE R TO AVOID HIM AND WERE THEN TOLD TO FOLLOW HIM. I TOLD THE TWR WE WERE DOING A 360 DEG TURN (FOR SPACING) AND THEN REPEATED CLRED TO LAND ON RWY 5. WE COMPLETED OUR 360 DEG TURN AND LANDED WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 454437: TWR CLRS US TO LAND, #2, BEHIND AZTEC ACFT Y ON FINAL. TWR TALKS TO ACFT Z. PLT RESPONDS HE SEES US AND AZTEC. AT THIS TIME, I TURN R TO WIDEN OUT FOR SPACING BEHIND AZTEC. SPACING GOOD, SO I TURN TO FINAL. FROM R OF MY ACFT, CAPT NOTICES ACFT Z RIGHT IN FRONT OF US, CUTTING FROM R TO L IN OUR APCH PATH. TCASII SCREAMS ALERT. I MAKE HARD TURN TO R TO AVOID ACFT Z. I PROCEED R AND ACCOMPLISH A 360 DEG TURN, THEN LAND AT MKK WITHOUT ANY FURTHER INCIDENT.
