Narrative:

Flight xyz ZZZ-dfw was released using route 42 which is an overwater route using J5B. Prior to departure, the captain from the flight called to question the fact that the aircraft was routed over the water and was not equipped with life vests. Upon further investigation all records indicated that aircraft abc was overwater equipped. Maintenance was notified of the discrepancy and issued MEL 25-01A. In accordance with the MEL, flight xyz was refiled on route 41 to take it over land.

Title: A COMMERCIAL FIXED WING ACFT ROUTED OVERWATER IS FOUND TO HAVE NO LIFE VESTS INSTALLED BUT ACFT DOCUMENTS INDICATE ACFT IN OVERWATER STATUS.

Narrative: FLT XYZ ZZZ-DFW WAS RELEASED USING RTE 42 WHICH IS AN OVERWATER RTE USING J5B. PRIOR TO DEP, THE CAPT FROM THE FLT CALLED TO QUESTION THE FACT THAT THE ACFT WAS ROUTED OVER THE WATER AND WAS NOT EQUIPPED WITH LIFE VESTS. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION ALL RECORDS INDICATED THAT ACFT ABC WAS OVERWATER EQUIPPED. MAINT WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DISCREPANCY AND ISSUED MEL 25-01A. IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE MEL, FLT XYZ WAS REFILED ON RTE 41 TO TAKE IT OVER LAND.
