Narrative:
There was no WX for our alternate airport. The captain was concerned with xwinds at destination and alternate fields (bos, psm). As I was busy with preflight duties as was the flight engineer, the captain contacted dispatch and changed the alternate to bdl. But he didn't tell the rest of the crew! Upon arrival at bos, I noticed written changes on the computer flight plan. Both myself and the first officer were surprised to learn of the change. I told the captain that a terminal area forecast from bdl was needed on the flight plan. After parking, he called flight service to get a terminal area forecast for bdl. He failed to write it on the flight plan because he didn't want to keep the hotel van waiting. This person takes a cavalier attitude toward basic SOP's and far's. I wish I would have went back to the airport and attached the WX to the flight plan.

Title: CAPT OF A DC8-71 CARGO FAILED TO COMPLETE THE COMPANY FLT PLAN PER REQUIRED PROC WHEN HE DID NOT INCLUDE THE TERMINAL WX FORECAST ON THE IFR FLT PLAN FOR THE DESIGNATED ALTERNATE ARPT.
Narrative: THERE WAS NO WX FOR OUR ALTERNATE ARPT. THE CAPT WAS CONCERNED WITH XWINDS AT DEST AND ALTERNATE FIELDS (BOS, PSM). AS I WAS BUSY WITH PREFLT DUTIES AS WAS THE FE, THE CAPT CONTACTED DISPATCH AND CHANGED THE ALTERNATE TO BDL. BUT HE DIDN'T TELL THE REST OF THE CREW! I TOLD THE CAPT THAT A TERMINAL AREA FORECAST FROM BDL WAS NEEDED ON THE FLT PLAN. AFTER PARKING, HE CALLED FLT SVC TO GET A TERMINAL AREA FORECAST FOR BDL. HE FAILED TO WRITE IT ON THE FLT PLAN BECAUSE HE DIDN'T WANT TO KEEP THE HOTEL VAN WAITING. THIS PERSON TAKES A CAVALIER ATTITUDE TOWARD BASIC SOP'S AND FAR'S. I WISH I WOULD HAVE WENT BACK TO THE ARPT AND ATTACHED THE WX TO THE FLT PLAN.
