Narrative:
On oct/xa/99 started its takeoff roll down the runway. A loud banging was heard outside my door (1L). It got louder and faster as we lifted off. I called the cockpit. The captain came out to listen and he deemed it necessary to land the aircraft. We landed overweight and the ground crew pulled a cotton scarf out of the door. It had been stuck in the hinge of the door, out of my sight in the door frame. Because of the delay, waiting for maintenance to return to the airport, the pilots almost went illegal waiting for our overweight landing inspection.
