Narrative:
On takeoff roll, we got a level 3 alert and right aft lavatory smoke indication on MFDU. Continued maximum power takeoff (used maximum power for windshear alert) rather than high speed abort and returned to field. On downwind, flight attendant reported no smoke or fumes of any kind. Reported to departure control that we had smoke indication in cabin and just wanted to return to dsm to check it out. We did not declare an emergency at that time, but ATC requested fuel and souls on board. We gave them 15.0 fuel and 101 souls. Completed normal checklists and briefed overweight landing and completed MFDU checklist. Landed 10 mins after takeoff at 94000 pounds gross weight. Agents in dsm informed me that ATC reported incident as an emergency. Debriefed with flight attendants. They agreed that incident went well under the circumstances. Had contract maintenance do overweight inspection and pulled smoke detector circuit breaker, placarded lavatory in accordance with MEL. Uneventful return to dfw. All is well that ends well.

Title: FLC OF A FOKKER 100 MADE A PRECAUTIONARY RETURN TO LAND DUE TO A SMOKE WARNING IN THE R REAR LAVATORY.
Narrative: ON TKOF ROLL, WE GOT A LEVEL 3 ALERT AND R AFT LAVATORY SMOKE INDICATION ON MFDU. CONTINUED MAX PWR TKOF (USED MAX PWR FOR WINDSHEAR ALERT) RATHER THAN HIGH SPD ABORT AND RETURNED TO FIELD. ON DOWNWIND, FLT ATTENDANT RPTED NO SMOKE OR FUMES OF ANY KIND. RPTED TO DEP CTL THAT WE HAD SMOKE INDICATION IN CABIN AND JUST WANTED TO RETURN TO DSM TO CHK IT OUT. WE DID NOT DECLARE AN EMER AT THAT TIME, BUT ATC REQUESTED FUEL AND SOULS ON BOARD. WE GAVE THEM 15.0 FUEL AND 101 SOULS. COMPLETED NORMAL CHKLISTS AND BRIEFED OVERWT LNDG AND COMPLETED MFDU CHKLIST. LANDED 10 MINS AFTER TKOF AT 94000 LBS GROSS WT. AGENTS IN DSM INFORMED ME THAT ATC RPTED INCIDENT AS AN EMER. DEBRIEFED WITH FLT ATTENDANTS. THEY AGREED THAT INCIDENT WENT WELL UNDER THE CIRCUMSTANCES. HAD CONTRACT MAINT DO OVERWT INSPECTION AND PULLED SMOKE DETECTOR CIRCUIT BREAKER, PLACARDED LAVATORY IN ACCORDANCE WITH MEL. UNEVENTFUL RETURN TO DFW. ALL IS WELL THAT ENDS WELL.
