Narrative:
I am an IOE line check captain for an air cargo airline. When this incident occurred I was training a copilot candidate on the B757. We were attempting to load a complicated non precision approach into our FMC and this training caused a distraction which led to this incident. We were operating flight XXX between buf and phl, descending on the bunts 1 arrival. We were proceeding direct to har VOR from the north. We were cleared from FL290 to FL180. Next we were vectored slightly west for spacing into phl. Passing FL265 we were reclred to FL250. FL250 was put in FMC cruise altitude, but FL240 was inadvertently put into the altitude window. The aircraft leveled at FL240. Shortly after ZNY calmly asked if we were level at FL240. This alerted us to our mistake. We asked ATC if he wanted us to remain at FL240. He said that FL240 was fine.
