Narrative:
During taxi in, after landing our B777 on runway 9R at mia, I struck a temporary taxi light which was on the edge of a construction area. During the approach briefing, my first officer and I reviewed the NOTAMS concerning the construction area, so we were aware that there was ongoing construction. The area is poorly lit, no caution lighting, and one of the taxi lines led into the construction area. Taxi lines were difficult to distinguish because of glare on the taxiway. In addition, gate signs and taxi lines are very difficult to see and become a distraction. After we arrived at the gate and completed our parking procedures, both the first officer and I inspected the gear area. My first officer found damage on 1 tire. I notified our maintenance people and I also briefed the outbound crew of a possible problem. I have been advised that there have been at least 3 other episodes in this area virtually identical to ours. Our company is actively pursuing a solution to this problem with dade county officials. My suggestion is that the construction area be surrounded with amber caution lights and that a taxi line, containing a reflective material, be painted to guide aircraft well clear of the construction area.

Title: B777 CONTACTS TEMPORARY TAXI LIGHT ON THE WAY TO THE GATE AT MIA.
Narrative: DURING TAXI IN, AFTER LNDG OUR B777 ON RWY 9R AT MIA, I STRUCK A TEMPORARY TAXI LIGHT WHICH WAS ON THE EDGE OF A CONSTRUCTION AREA. DURING THE APCH BRIEFING, MY FO AND I REVIEWED THE NOTAMS CONCERNING THE CONSTRUCTION AREA, SO WE WERE AWARE THAT THERE WAS ONGOING CONSTRUCTION. THE AREA IS POORLY LIT, NO CAUTION LIGHTING, AND ONE OF THE TAXI LINES LED INTO THE CONSTRUCTION AREA. TAXI LINES WERE DIFFICULT TO DISTINGUISH BECAUSE OF GLARE ON THE TXWY. IN ADDITION, GATE SIGNS AND TAXI LINES ARE VERY DIFFICULT TO SEE AND BECOME A DISTR. AFTER WE ARRIVED AT THE GATE AND COMPLETED OUR PARKING PROCS, BOTH THE FO AND I INSPECTED THE GEAR AREA. MY FO FOUND DAMAGE ON 1 TIRE. I NOTIFIED OUR MAINT PEOPLE AND I ALSO BRIEFED THE OUTBOUND CREW OF A POSSIBLE PROB. I HAVE BEEN ADVISED THAT THERE HAVE BEEN AT LEAST 3 OTHER EPISODES IN THIS AREA VIRTUALLY IDENTICAL TO OURS. OUR COMPANY IS ACTIVELY PURSUING A SOLUTION TO THIS PROB WITH DADE COUNTY OFFICIALS. MY SUGGESTION IS THAT THE CONSTRUCTION AREA BE SURROUNDED WITH AMBER CAUTION LIGHTS AND THAT A TAXI LINE, CONTAINING A REFLECTIVE MATERIAL, BE PAINTED TO GUIDE ACFT WELL CLR OF THE CONSTRUCTION AREA.
