Narrative:

While being vectored for a visual approach to runway 8 at bur, we received a 'terrain, terrain' callout. We were descending to 5000 ft and immediately initiated a climb as per airline procedures for terrain avoidance to 6000 ft. Conditions were VMC and we had a visual with the subject terrain. We reported our climb to socal approach and the controller concurred with us that we were above the MVA for the area. No conflicts were encountered and we continued with vectoring for an uneventful landing on runway 8 at bur.
