Misread clearance at bur airport, air carrier flight #abc. Flew filed departure and route en route to ave VOR. Was cleared to fly from gmn VOR to pxn VOR. Estimate flying 5 mi off course. Controller at ZOA noticed our deviation from cleared route and notified us of our error.
