Narrative:

Had experienced some minor communication problem during the flight. Was on approach frequency, about 3/4 mi from the runway (on which I was cleared for the visual approach), and still not receiving any ATC calls to switch to tower. I inquired of approach control to switch, but had no reply. Went to tower and transmitted that I was visual to runway 4R, but no reply. I thought later I heard 'cleared to land' and no call sign. I landed and had problems still with communications. Reported the problem to maintenance. I really don't know if I officially received a clearance to land, but felt it was lost communication and my safest choice was to land. No runway conflicts existed.

Title: AN AIR TAXI CARGO PLT, IN HNL CLASS B AIRSPACE, EXPERIENCED AN INSIDIOUS COM RADIO LOSS. BY THE TIME HE WAS SURE HE HAD A PROB, THE SAFEST THING TO DO WAS LAND.

Narrative: HAD EXPERIENCED SOME MINOR COM PROB DURING THE FLT. WAS ON APCH FREQ, ABOUT 3/4 MI FROM THE RWY (ON WHICH I WAS CLRED FOR THE VISUAL APCH), AND STILL NOT RECEIVING ANY ATC CALLS TO SWITCH TO TWR. I INQUIRED OF APCH CTL TO SWITCH, BUT HAD NO REPLY. WENT TO TWR AND XMITTED THAT I WAS VISUAL TO RWY 4R, BUT NO REPLY. I THOUGHT LATER I HEARD 'CLRED TO LAND' AND NO CALL SIGN. I LANDED AND HAD PROBS STILL WITH COMS. RPTED THE PROB TO MAINT. I REALLY DON'T KNOW IF I OFFICIALLY RECEIVED A CLRNC TO LAND, BUT FELT IT WAS LOST COM AND MY SAFEST CHOICE WAS TO LAND. NO RWY CONFLICTS EXISTED.
