Narrative:
During cockpit preflight, noted 1 open item in the logbook concerning windscreen wiper. Continued with the preflight and forgot to follow through with closing the logbook prior to departure. I should have doublechked the logbook prior to running the checklist. Next time I will position the logbook so I can see the open item unless a pilot or mechanic has the book. Valuable lesson learned. Supplemental information from acn 458369: no mechanic showed up and at departure time we closed the door and pushed with item still open. We realized this well after takeoff.
