Narrative:

Prior to takeoff on runway 26, I self-announced my intentions. A travel-aire subsequently self-announced its position as at the blh VOR FAF inbound. I continued my takeoff. At approximately 200-300 ft AGL, I spotted a twin at my 10 O'clock position. I estimate it took 2 seconds before I realized we were on a collision course. We both took evasive action. The twin pilot asked if I had self-announced. I said I had. He then said he never heard me and that my radio was very weak (center later confirmed this). In retrospect, I could have waited until the twin passed. A position report (from the twin) in relation to the airport (ie, 3 mi southwest) would have been more meaningful than 'at the FAF.' and now when I conduct practice approachs to an uncontrolled field during cavu conditions, I will be extra vigilant for traffic in the pattern.

Title: NMAC BTWN A C172 ON INITIAL CLBOUT FROM A NON CTLED ARPT AND A BEECH TRAVEL-AIRE 95 ON A VOR INST APCH. BOTH ACFT TOOK EVASIVE ACTION.

Narrative: PRIOR TO TKOF ON RWY 26, I SELF-ANNOUNCED MY INTENTIONS. A TRAVEL-AIRE SUBSEQUENTLY SELF-ANNOUNCED ITS POS AS AT THE BLH VOR FAF INBOUND. I CONTINUED MY TKOF. AT APPROX 200-300 FT AGL, I SPOTTED A TWIN AT MY 10 O'CLOCK POS. I ESTIMATE IT TOOK 2 SECONDS BEFORE I REALIZED WE WERE ON A COLLISION COURSE. WE BOTH TOOK EVASIVE ACTION. THE TWIN PLT ASKED IF I HAD SELF-ANNOUNCED. I SAID I HAD. HE THEN SAID HE NEVER HEARD ME AND THAT MY RADIO WAS VERY WEAK (CTR LATER CONFIRMED THIS). IN RETROSPECT, I COULD HAVE WAITED UNTIL THE TWIN PASSED. A POS RPT (FROM THE TWIN) IN RELATION TO THE ARPT (IE, 3 MI SW) WOULD HAVE BEEN MORE MEANINGFUL THAN 'AT THE FAF.' AND NOW WHEN I CONDUCT PRACTICE APCHS TO AN UNCTLED FIELD DURING CAVU CONDITIONS, I WILL BE EXTRA VIGILANT FOR TFC IN THE PATTERN.
