Narrative:

After crossing abeam elopo on a direct course for anu, bird approach advised us that volcanic ash was reported in the area of 6000 ft. At the time we were descending from FL190 to 2500 ft. Power was already off. I deployed the speed brakes and continued descent to 2500 ft. Engine parameters appeared normal and no arching noted. Cockpit crew felt a constriction in the throat and lungs. Cabin crew reported a smell as if something was burning. Landed normally with no unusual indications.
