Narrative:
While parked at mia at gate, an FAA inspector ramp checked us. He did not identify himself until after his inspection of the exterior was complete. We had several items deferred on the aircraft at the time, however, he did not ask to see the maintenance logbook. Due to FAA's new fast track 'ticketing' program, I decided to submit a NASA ASRS form. In over 20 yrs of commercial flying I have never had a ramp inspection that the inspector did not ask to see the logbook when there were obvious maintenance deferrals.
