Narrative:
5 mi south of mt wilson, ca, 7500 ft MSL, descending to destination vny, ca. In contact with socal approach control 135.05 MHZ, requesting class C airspace advisories bur en route vny. Socal advised on initial contact that I was inside temporary flight restr area at and below 8000 ft MSL. Before beginning flight, a check with duats showed a temporary flight restr area at the same location, but with a maximum altitude of 6000 ft MSL. When advised by socal approach that the altitude ceiling was 8000 ft MSL, exited area as soon as possible. No fire fighting aircraft were seen or reported. In addition, no smoke from the reported fires was visible. This flight was conducted under far 91 in accordance with the received NOTAMS. If the ceiling was 8000 ft MSL (and not 6000 ft MSL as indicated in the NOTAM) then this flight would not have entered this temporary flight restr area. It would be appreciated if the FAA indicated the correct altitude for these temporary flight restr areas in the duats NOTAMS so as to avoid future misunderstandings.

Narrative: 5 MI S OF MT WILSON, CA, 7500 FT MSL, DSNDING TO DEST VNY, CA. IN CONTACT WITH SOCAL APCH CTL 135.05 MHZ, REQUESTING CLASS C AIRSPACE ADVISORIES BUR ENRTE VNY. SOCAL ADVISED ON INITIAL CONTACT THAT I WAS INSIDE TEMPORARY FLT RESTR AREA AT AND BELOW 8000 FT MSL. BEFORE BEGINNING FLT, A CHK WITH DUATS SHOWED A TEMPORARY FLT RESTR AREA AT THE SAME LOCATION, BUT WITH A MAX ALT OF 6000 FT MSL. WHEN ADVISED BY SOCAL APCH THAT THE ALT CEILING WAS 8000 FT MSL, EXITED AREA ASAP. NO FIRE FIGHTING ACFT WERE SEEN OR RPTED. IN ADDITION, NO SMOKE FROM THE RPTED FIRES WAS VISIBLE. THIS FLT WAS CONDUCTED UNDER FAR 91 IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE RECEIVED NOTAMS.
