Problem Areas | Airport Passenger Human Performance |
Primary Problem | Passenger Human Performance |
Narrative:
Passenger seated in row X, passenger xx, was able to clear mexican security check and board air carrier flight xyxy with what passenger stated was a gun. Obviously, the quality of human performance at the security chkpoint was inferior. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated that the woman got on the airplane and told the purser in spanish that she had a gun in her tote bag. The reporter had been in the back of the plane and did not witness this. She first knew about the incident when she came to the front of the aircraft and saw the captain going through the woman's carry-on bags on the jetbridge. He found the gun and was looking to see if it was loaded. Apparently, it was a very realistic looking plastic gun. The reporter said that no one knew for sure if it was real or not. The security officials came on board and had everyone get off with all their belongings. They all went through another security check. The passenger all got back on, except for the woman. The reporter never found out what happened after they took off.
