Problem Areas | Passenger Human Performance |
Primary Problem | Passenger Human Performance |
Narrative:
A passenger became disruptive, scaring other passenger with furtive movements and threatening words. The passenger was subdued by flight attendant and passenger, and deplaned in bda. More attention needs to be paid by ground personnel to passenger in the boarding area. More focus and attention needs to be paid to security in the air. Bda customs/police very helpful in deplaning/subduing passenger. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated that the man had behaved very erratically in the boarding area and apparently had just come in from south america. Once they were in-flight, he was trying to open all the exit doors, started going in and out of lavatories, sitting in other passenger's seats and speaking in incoherent spanish. As far as the reporter knew, no one had served him any liquor. The crew wondered if he was doing drugs in the lavatories. It took 5 passenger and 1 flight attendant to subdue the man. Once in bermuda, they had a 3 hour delay for the witnesses to fill out the police reports and for security to check out all the lavatories.

Title: CABIN ATTENDANT RPT, A300, SJU-JFK, UNRULY PAX WAS SUBDUED BY PAX'S AND FLT ATTENDANTS. DIVERTED TO BDA. POLICE TOOK PAX OFF.
Narrative: A PAX BECAME DISRUPTIVE, SCARING OTHER PAX WITH FURTIVE MOVEMENTS AND THREATENING WORDS. THE PAX WAS SUBDUED BY FLT ATTENDANT AND PAX, AND DEPLANED IN BDA. MORE ATTN NEEDS TO BE PAID BY GND PERSONNEL TO PAX IN THE BOARDING AREA. MORE FOCUS AND ATTN NEEDS TO BE PAID TO SECURITY IN THE AIR. BDA CUSTOMS/POLICE VERY HELPFUL IN DEPLANING/SUBDUING PAX. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATED THAT THE MAN HAD BEHAVED VERY ERRATICALLY IN THE BOARDING AREA AND APPARENTLY HAD JUST COME IN FROM SOUTH AMERICA. ONCE THEY WERE INFLT, HE WAS TRYING TO OPEN ALL THE EXIT DOORS, STARTED GOING IN AND OUT OF LAVATORIES, SITTING IN OTHER PAX'S SEATS AND SPEAKING IN INCOHERENT SPANISH. AS FAR AS THE RPTR KNEW, NO ONE HAD SERVED HIM ANY LIQUOR. THE CREW WONDERED IF HE WAS DOING DRUGS IN THE LAVATORIES. IT TOOK 5 PAX AND 1 FLT ATTENDANT TO SUBDUE THE MAN. ONCE IN BERMUDA, THEY HAD A 3 HR DELAY FOR THE WITNESSES TO FILL OUT THE POLICE RPTS AND FOR SECURITY TO CHK OUT ALL THE LAVATORIES.
